The "My Mantra Project" is an art project I created to empower individuals facing any life battle. A "mantra" is a word or phrase that is often repeated and expresses a strong belief, often used by individuals to persevere in times of adversity. I founded this art project as an artist and blood cancer fighter. My vision is to draw a portrait with the "fighter's" mantra written on it, along with sharing their story on social media through a timelapse video (with the individual's permission). I want to draw for anyone who is a fighter or survivor of any adversity, big or small - whether it's cancer, addiction, abuse, mental illness, etc. I donate 10% of the proceeds to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fund blood cancer research and provide patient support.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hi friends! My name is Mackenzie Paul, artist and founder of Paul’s Portraits. Here you will be able to browse and purchase custom artwork, be apart of a project I found called, “My Mantra Project,” purchase prints of my personal artwork, and take a look at my portfolio! I started drawing when I was in high school to fulfill my required credits and quickly fell in love with it. It became a hobby for me until I decided to make it a business in June of 2024. This decision came at a time that I was battling cancer and on medical leave from medical school. I’m still fighting, but drawing has been an amazing source of peace and comfort to me. Whether it’s from home or the hospital bed, art is healing to me and gives me a reason to keep fighting!

THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE
During my battle with cancer, I've found myself writing through both the most hopeful and the most difficult moments. Those writings became my debut book, This Is What It Feels Like, a collection of 45 poems and illustrations that tell my story.
I created this book to raise awareness and share what the lived experience of cancer truly feels like. It is my dedication to those currently in the fight, those who have survived, those grieving a loss, and all the loved ones trying to understand. It's my deepest hope that through these poems and drawings, you will find comfort, encouragement, and a powerful reminder that you do not walk this journey alone.
